Something Has Happened to Me (Maybe It’s Christmas)

This is the new recording of my Christmas song “Something Has Happened to Me
(Maybe It’s Christmas).” I wrote this good feeling number back in 2008, but I
knew that I wanted to redo it when the time came. I determined to get it done
for this Christmas, but it wasn’t easy. I suppose after waiting six years, I
felt the pressure to make the recording as great as possible. When I heard this
version a few nights ago I was ecstatic. To me, this version captures the fun,
family spirit of the song… I hope it warms your heart and brightens your
Holiday Season. Continue reading

That’s the Power of Love: The Music of My Relationship

A little over six years ago, I met a sweet and lovely woman who also happened to be artistically brilliant.  I quickly realized that in her I had found just about the most wonderful person I had ever met!   We barely started dating and already there was a feeling about our togetherness that I could not remember having experienced before.  It was lovely, it was satisfying, and I had a complete sense of peace and contentment that was new to me.

She surprised me by saying, “You should record that!” This inspired me, and eventually that is what I did. Though these recordings are a bit raw in quality, they capture my musical thoughts, and that’s what I wanted to share with you:

1. “Improvising using Radio Head’s ‘Creep’ as a theme”
For this one, I had just returned from a show down the street in Sacramento, and I was very inspired by having talked to the lead singer of the band and just generally feeling inspired. It was probably about midnight by then, and I sat down at the piano, and this is what came out. Actually, I believe I improvised on this theme for several minutes before I thought to record it. Enjoy…
